Four Oaks Tennis Club - Fun Day and Membership Offer

Four Oaks Tennis Club is holding a fun day on Saturday 24th March between 12pm and 2pm, with a barbeque at 3.pm. There is also a special half price Olympic Year membership offer available which includes 5 group coaching sessions. You can find the full details HERE.

Sport in Sutton Club Makes Final of The Mall 'Local Champions' Initiative

Boldmere Swimming Club has been shortlisted for this award - a substantial £5000 donation which will support the club's drive to extend high quality swimming instruction and competitive opportunities for Sutton youngsters.

Each time you shop in the Gracechurch centre ('The Mall in Sutton') and spend over £20, please present your receipt to the 'Ask Me' desk outside WH Smiths and you will be given a token. Please post the token that you are given into the Boldmere SC box. If this year's scheme is well supported by Sutton shoppers, then hopefully it will become an annual event and other 'Sport in Sutton' clubs could benefit from such windfalls in future years.

The 2011 Sutton Coldfield Sports Awards took place at a packed Sutton Coldfield Town Hall on Friday 27th Jnauary. Congratulations to all of this year's winners - full details can be found on the Sutton Sport Awards page.

Boldmere Swimmer Breaks World Record!

Boldmere's Olympic hopeful for the Paralympics in 2012 Tully Kearney has strengthened her claim for inclusion this weekend at the Midlands short course championships in Corby. Read More

Tully Kearney broke the S10 World Record in the 400m IM with a time of 5.27.32, and also went on to beat the S10 British and European Records in both 200m Freestyle and 400m Freestyle events with times of 2.16.85 and 4.44.41 respectively the in the Midlands Short Course Championships at Corby.

This has topped off a great week for Tully who just days before had been awarded a 'Dora' by Walsall Corporation for 'outstanding sports achievement in 2011' as they have followed her journey to hopefully Paralympic success.

In the same pool, in the able-bodied events, Bradley Lynch broke his own Junior County and W Mids Regional Records in the 400m Freestyle - and his Junior County Record in the 200m Freestyle, while Emma Smith broke the Warwickshire Junior County Records in 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke and 200m Freestyle - the last two having stood for almost ten years.

A great weekend for Boldmere's swimmers, with many other swimmers achieving personal and club records during the weekend.

The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge will mark the Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Olympics.

The Challenge targets increasing physical activity and aims to protect outdoor recreational spaces and facilities. The Challenge gives communities the opportunity to vote for an outdoor space in their area to become part of the scheme and be permanently protected as a tribute to the Diamond Jubilee.

Boldmere Swimming Coach Selected as Olympic Judge

It has been confirmed that Boldmere's own Ali Pratt has been given the honour of being selected as one of the synchronised swimming judges for the 2012 Olympics in London. Read More

An experienced international judge Ali rightly regards this appointment as the pinnacle of her sports career to date. Not only a swimming Coach Ali's commitment to aquatics is extensive as she is also the head coach for the award winning City of Birmingham's Syncro squad.

Sport in Sutton will soon be running an interview with Ali over her personal route to this position and also her ambitions going forward to next July.

International Success for Four Oaks Tennis Club's Veteran as Great Britain Win 2011 International World-Wide Men's Tennis Championship

Tony King competed in the 2011 International Clubs World-Wide Tennis team Championships in New Delhi last month. Tony and the rest of the Great Britain team came up against strong competition teams from eight different countries from 5 continents. Read More

As the reigning Champion in the British Indoor doubles, the Scottish Open singles and the Croatian Open doubles in the over 55 category, Tony kept up his winning habit and was part of the victorious British team alongside Daniel Ahl, Jeremy Woods, Henk Nijeboer and Raj Ranawat.

Sutton's Under 15s Rugby Stars Continue Impressive Run

The under 15s Sutton Coldfield Rugby Club continued their impressive run with a victory away from home to the Old Halesowenians. Read More

After piling on the pressure from the off, the final score was Sutton 28, Old Halesowenians 7. Sutton played the majority of the first 10 minutes in their opponents half so it wasn't long before they put their first points on the board. They managed to hold the lead during the second half and rounded off the game with the final try.
